The P wave is the first wave in the electrocardiogram. The P wave represents the electrical impulse traveling through the atrium.

If the electrical impulse originates in the SA - Sinoatrial node it will have the same shape. If the electrical impulse originate in different areas of the atrium it will have different forms and shapes.
